This really turned out the way I expected it too.

I’m not having walls on this one, or… indeed – a floor. There’s the chill spot and there are also fish swimming through the air… guess I’m just putting the surreal into the experience.

Unfortunately, there’s not much I can do about this now. This has impact way beyond Second Life for me and includes difficulties in uploading podcasts and other strange web connection related phenomena. This is also a setback in developing my Bluesmoke Designs. I’m hoping to fix this once my financial status becomes a little more stable.

What’s a chillout spot if I don’t actually use it to chillout?

Here, you can clearly see where everything goes. I’m using the UV maps created by Robin Wood, which are excellent for positioning textures and elements while creating SL clothing items.

One thing that is important to understand is how the different elements of the UV maps connect. In this example, it’s clear to see how the shirt and arms connect at the shoulders.

This image clearly shows the connection between the shirt and pants. I did 16 UV image studies and posted them all on a special Flickr UV Study set in the hope those would also be helpful for other designers, especial other novices like me.

Those first two images use a special white modeling room I designed for modeling shots.

I’ve also been working on something new, but it’s not ready yet.

I will also have to take some screen shots of my Bluesmoke Hancroft avatar wearing the Robin Wood UV maps. Those would be extremely helpful in understanding how everything is put together.

Hmm… this one has a little of a Torley-ish feel to it…

Assembler – the third in a series I’m now calling The Futuralia Series.

Looks like I’ll have to master the art of the Prim skirt. The Linden idea of a skirt is just… well… not really there…

Another thing I want to do is reshape Bluesmoke Hancroft’s body a little. I think she looks a little to unnatural for now.

Throughout the past two years, Hextall created Second Life art, had his own gallery, did some musical statues and generally, had more fun then I do in real life. I’ve been thinking of starting a Second life business for some time now, but I was hesitant about the kind of business I would want to run. One of the things I was promoting with Bluesmoke Hextall was my podcasts, so I created a t-shirt of one of my podcasts and dressed him up with it.

In the background, you can see on of my musical statue, Dance of Electricity, also known as “The Big Wheel” sometimes. I also made a blue checkered trouser for him, which you can see more clearly on the following screen capture.

As time went by, I realized I enjoyed creating those little garments for my avatar and that I wanted to explore this further, so on the 26th of September, that is last Friday, I created Bluesmoke Hancroft.

Hancroft is going to be my vehicle to my SL fashion world and this is going to be my blog, following her progress though Hextall might also sneak in from time to time.
