Created a new sitting corner at Podcaster Island. Just a little place to chillout and relax.

Couldn’t resist some self-promotion. My Night Guy T-Shirt giver would give you a free T-Shirt and a notecart with a short blurb about my Night Guy podcast as well as a website link.

I’m also using this place as a small gallery with a few of my artworks.

What’s a chillout spot if I don’t actually use it to chillout?

I have shown my wife the designs I made and she thinks I shouldn’t be entering the fashion world at all. What do you think? Let me know by voting at the poll on the sidebar.
Experimenting in cloths designs for Second Life. I call this one “Snarl”. It might not be the best name since the design is more rosy then snarly, but I like the sound of that name

It’s still far from being perfect, but I feel that it’s better then the Futuralia, and I still feel the default skirt design is far from being perfect. I’m looking for a way to streamline prim skirt design.
I created a facelight for my Bluesmoke Hancroft character. I found the creation of this extremely easy and now my character shines at night…

Hopefully, learning how to design a dress that looks decently like a dress would be as easy. Yeah – dont I wish
I’ve been taking UV study pictures of my Bluesmoke Hancroft avatar, trying to understand better how the UV maps work.

Here, you can clearly see where everything goes. I’m using the UV maps created by Robin Wood, which are excellent for positioning textures and elements while creating SL clothing items.

One thing that is important to understand is how the different elements of the UV maps connect. In this example, it’s clear to see how the shirt and arms connect at the shoulders.

This image clearly shows the connection between the shirt and pants. I did 16 UV image studies and posted them all on a special Flickr UV Study set in the hope those would also be helpful for other designers, especial other novices like me.
I’ve been mixing and matching various items from the Futuralia series just to see what they would look like. I think the results look better then the original idea.
Those first two images use a special white modeling room I designed for modeling shots.
I’ve also been working on something new, but it’s not ready yet.
AI is the last in the Futuralia series. One thing I learned while doing this is that I don’t like the skirt Linden Labs gave the Second Life avatars. This means I’ll have to master the art of the prim skirt. Here are the images:
I will also have to take some screen shots of my Bluesmoke Hancroft avatar wearing the Robin Wood UV maps. Those would be extremely helpful in understanding how everything is put together.
Metaverse – the fourth in the Futuralia series. I think I’m going to stop at five with this one. I’m still learning this, and I think I’m going to have something more substantial when I start integrating prims into my outfits.

Hmm… this one has a little of a Torley-ish feel to it…
At last – I was able to upload some new textures and create a new outfit.
Assembler – the third in a series I’m now calling The Futuralia Series.

Looks like I’ll have to master the art of the Prim skirt. The Linden idea of a skirt is just… well… not really there…

It’s not that obvious here, but I’ve been playing with transparencies on this one. Click through to the Flickr page to see the full size images. More Futuralia images would come soon, hopefully.
I created some more textures for my futuristic series of clothing, but I couldn’t upload them since I’ve been having problems with my net connection. Ah well – maybe tomorrow.
